Akshardham in Gandhinagar is one of the largest temples of Gujarat, dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. The 23-acre temple was Inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj Ji, the former spiritual head of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha using pink sandstone and not a bit of steel has been used.
Akshardham, Gandhinagar is not just a temple, this massive landmark offers Exhibitions, Water Shows, Fun rides, a 15-acre Garden and Food Courts. The main temple of Akshardham is a spectacular architecture and a perfect blend depicting Indian art, culture, education, and devotion. The Exhibitions are held at five different halls: Neelkanth Hall, Sahajanand Hall, Mystic India, Premanand Hall and Sant Param Hitakari. You’ll get to know about the Swaminarayan’s life, work and teachings, Hindu scriptural texts, the Upanishads, the Ramayan, and much more about the rich culture of India and its history. At the Sahajanand Van, you can enjoy rides, swings with your tiny ones.
In the afternoon, you can fill up your tummies, with the local Gujarati cuisines Punjabi Food or light snacks at the temple’s Food Court. Later in the evening, head towards the outdoor amphitheater and enjoy the Sat-Chit-Anand Water Show. The show depicts a story of a fearless boy named Nachiketa, who stood against the God of Death. He later eventually learns about the knowledge of eternal happiness.
